A scheme delivering four 2 bedroom houses for affordable home ownership alongside a single detached residence for the landowner.

Landspeed Limited were heavily involved in the planning and promotion of this ‘exception’ site (where planning consent can only be secured if the scheme comprises a majority or totally affordable housing). This activity included the undertaking of a full housing needs survey of the Parish – which highlighted an extensive need for affordable home ownership opportunities for local people.

Following a planning appeal, consent was granted with Landspeed’s planning agreement approved and accepted by the planning inspector. This obligated the owner to make the affordable units available in the first instance to applicants connected to the Parish of Walberton & Fontwell and, thereafter, to adjacent parish areas and Arun District Council as a whole. The new properties were available at prices of up to 75% of market value with no rent charged on the discounted share.

Construction commenced during June 2021 with the units completed and available for occupation in May 2022.

One property has now been sold and occupied with the remaining three reserved and set to complete during the month.
